I'm Chief AI Officer at Earthling Interactive, a consulting firm based in Madison, WI. This site is where I write about the engineering reality behind AI in production.
Twenty years building production software, five years in product management, and two years watching organizations succeed and fail at AI adoption. That combination is the point.
- Production AI engineering
- Zero-to-one product launches
- AI adoption & readiness
- Developer tools & SDKs
- Startups through enterprise scale
The engineering depth means AI features I help build actually ship. Seeing the potential is the easy part. Proving the value is where teams get stuck.
Seeing the potential is the easy part. Proving the value is where teams get stuck.
The pattern is predictable. You learn AI is more than a chatbot. You start to see where it could fit into your processes. You pilot something small and low-impact, which feels safe but rarely moves the needle enough to prove the transformative case.
The moment you want something that does move the needle, accuracy and reproducibility become the whole job. Without them, you're shipping "works on my machine" as a product. Shipping production products at enterprises, mid-size companies, and startups is why that part works.
The product experience means every AI capability connects to a user need and a business outcome. I've taken concepts to very profitable products. I led AI-powered design-to-code tooling. I know the difference between technology that's interesting and products that matter.
I write here because I keep seeing the same pattern: organizations struggling to use AI effectively. The problem is almost never the technology. It's the gap between understanding what AI is good at and putting that understanding to work. The writing is how I think about that gap out loud.
I've built products at venture-backed startups, mid-size SaaS companies, and publicly-traded enterprises.
